So how active an animal is makes it dominate? Megalodon hunted the biggest creatures. Fish are the most prolific vertebrates on earth and are dominate in many water systems.
Compare the size of areas that lack cold blooded inhabitants with those that lack warm blooded inhabitants.

Again this is ectothermes vs endothermes, so why does it keep turning into reptiles vs birds and mammals? you keep forgetting about insects and single celled organisms which do actively kill the largest animals on this planet. You guys cant just pick on group of ectothermes just becuase it suits your fancy.

Single celled organisms are not cold blooded, smart one. They're not even animals.

Single celled organisms are not cold blooded, smart one. They're not even animals, they have no metabolism. There closer to ecto than endo they have no way to control there body temperature, so they are far far closer to ecto, close enough for me to count them. oh and by doing very light research i found you are wrong The chemical processes occurring within a living cell or organism that are necessary for the maintenance of life. In metabolism some substances are broken down to yield energy for vital processes while other substances, necessary for life, are synthesized. maybe you should look up definitions before you imply somone is wrong.

there are many microscopic animals though.

Well you can't count sponges or coral or jellyfish or certainly not bacteria as cold-blooded, because none of them even have blood at all.

Nevertheless, they aren't comparable. We're talking about the difference between fish, insects, reptiles, birds, and mammals, all of which have much more in common with each other than with a sponge or jellyfish. Anything with a circulatory system is fine.

Im really only talking about vertebrates here. Personally I find that invertebrate temperature regulatory systems are far different from cold blooded vertebrates much more so than warm blooded and cold blooded vertebrates are from one another.

I can tell but you cant just ignore them.

Sure you can, just as we're ignoring plants and bacteria. What we're discussing doesn't apply to them.

Well, I doubt that was the intention. The whole question becomes stupidly obvious when you include entire Kingdoms in "cold-blooded". Why would we have such a thread? And for the sake of argument, why don't we just consider vertebrates?
