Okay, here you go, a thread for deciding which specimen of homo sapien we are going to use in human vs matches. Just post a picture of said human, and explain why you think he/she's most suited to be the representation of our race in interspecies conflict.
I expect Jumbo will be here before long, and considering he is the leader (or so to speak) of the human supporters I'll await his arrival when he decides upon which specimen to use.

I can't post a picture because I might get sued for it. But anyway:
Shaolin Monks are excellent candidates. They can withstand baseball bats to the stomach, break bricks with headbutts, and do 3 fingered handstands. Not to mention, they are also familiar with weapons like bamboo sticks and spears. I'd back one of these men over a wolf, cougar, or (sometimes) a chimpanzee in a fight.
There's a national geographic documentary regarding them on YT. You guys might want to give it a watch sometime.

^Top specimens like those shouldn't be used in my opinion. I think ancient warriors like the gauls would be fair; fit, level headed/brave, plus no advantage of clothing

^No because advanced weapons are not something most humans know how to craft.

There is a difference between a makeshift spear and one of high quality; the former will snap if it struck violent whilst the latter can pierce through chain mail.

Human beings can turn almost anything into a weapon. A beer bottle, a piece of plate, a fork, or any other wieldable object.
Jacky Chan uses bicycles or ladders as weapons in the movies for instance.

As I've always said, the human shouldn't be allowed to have a crapload of weapons at his disposal or he could grab an elephant gun and kill a Tyrannosaurus with ease. Now, as for combat training, I'll make an extremely stupid example here so bear with me. If your brain melts from too much idiocy please stop reading at this point. I play MW3. It's an online first-person shooter. The wolf's combat experience is similar to your experience in the game. You may aim faster, be quicker to throw grenades, and take superior routes, but on the whole you are improving on skills already present. Combat training would be like dropshotting (on another note, doing this all the time makes you an arse), switching to your pistol if you're caught off guard while reloading, and aiming while strafing around a corner. You learn an entire new set of techniques rather than simply improving on the ones you have. ^Ok, end of stupid. No doubt the wolf will learn some skills through hunting, like flanking, for example, but experience is an enhancement, not a teacher. This is why it's unfair for the human to possess combat training. A human that's been through street fights would be a far better candidate because, as mentioned previously, he has simply improved his skills instead of learning new ones. Also, note that wolves do not perform "superwolf" feats. They wouldn't bother; animals of the wild only exercise themselves to the point necessary. Humans have specimens that can do those superhuman feats; pitting one of those guys against a wolf is also unfair because of said lack of superwolves to match them. We're not trying to find the candidate most likely to BEAT the wolf. That's biased. No, we're looking at what would be the fairest match for the wolf.

I remember reading that human boxers were measured to have some of if not the most powerful punches of any human fighter. Equivalent to swinging a sledgehammer in somebody's face. Such a punch could very well handicap a carnivore or herbivore of similar weight.

Oh yes. Mike Tyson can easily kill you or me with 1 punch.
Human boxers have the ability to throw powerful, accurate punches in rapid succession due to our bipedalism, great range of motion in our arms and ability to rotate our hips.
A feline or dog for instance can't bend their arm backward at a more than 90 degree angle without breaking.
Ungulates just kind of buck their hips in a very stiff fashion.
Great apes too lack the fine coordination we have. Unlike us, they often use a lot of strength in an uncoordinated fashion and just flail their arms around instead of punching like humans can.
So next time you hear someone spout nonsense about how a wolf/leopard/cougar is immune to getting hurt from a human strike just because they can survive ungulate kicks...
Repeat what I just said and destroy their argument.

No he couldnt if tyson punched me in the face it will drop me, it could break something but I will not die. beleive it or not mma fighters are actually topping boxers in hitting power if what your saying is true mma would not be legal as people would die all the time.
