It is the tallest land mammal with a shoulder height of 3.6 meters and a head height of 5 to 5.5 meters. It weighs 800 to 900 kilograms in males and 550 kilograms in females. The neck and forelimbs are about the same length, and its height is suddenly reduced from shoulder to waist, with its weight leaning toward the forelimb. The tail has tufts of hair and bristles up to 30 cm. Both male and female horns are covered with hairy skin, and the number varies from two to five, depending on the subspecies.A pair of parts where horns grow are formed at the top of the head, one in front of the head, and one in back of the head. The eyes are largely located on the left and right sides, the lips are highly movable, and there is a long tongue up to 50cm.The body color is yellowish-white with various angular spots and star-shaped spots such as chestnut, sand, and reddish brown on the background, so yellow-white lines look like a mesh. The skin is about one centimeter thick, but it is dense and hard to damage.
Andrewsarchus has one of the largest jaws of any land carnivorous mammal known today. It had a long proboscis and well-developed jaws, all of which grew large. It has incisors, curved sharp canine teeth, and sturdy molars that may have chewed up prey bones. The skull is 83.4cm[5] long and 56cm wide.
Referring to the aforementioned methonics obtusidense, which has similar skull shapes, Andrewsarcus is about 382cm long and 189cm shoulder height simply calculated from the skull length. However, the actual total length is still unknown because fossils of the fuselage have not been found and in fact their affinity with methonics is no longer supported.
