Zombies are practically stationary. Getting a headshot with an assault rifle or something out to, say, 20 meters should be no hard task. Hell, I think some forces in Afghanistan were able to drop insurgents out to 400m or something with precision headshots while using M16's. (military forces are not actually taught to aim for the head though) Most civilians use hollow-point ammunition - rounds that expand and inflict massive tissue damage in comparison to the military standard FMJ's - so a shot to the legs, spinal cord, or neck can easily disable the zombie so that it's as good as dead anyway. You could just go and finish it off later with a tiny hammer or something. You can't have hundreds more undead if the few that sprout up are killed immediately.

I second that - same with those who take joy in animal cruelty! Indeed, although some may say that people like me are involved in such. What exactly animal cruelty is can be heavily debated. But as far as I am concerned, anyone who harms an animal for a reason other than food or to protect yourself (and yes that includes insects) deserves some kind of punishment. Insects? I take it you want to whip my ass or something?

wait a minute, what about the fast zombies? We haven't talked about those. They'll be a whole lot tougher to kill than the slow, lumbering ones.

How do we know there will be fast ones? Rigor mortis would prevent zombies from reaching anything outside of a sluggish walk for a couple of hours anyway. And of course, the likelihood of zombies in the first place would be low.

From here on out this thread will be remembered as the most off topic thread in AE!

Yes I was the one who took it off topic. I will man up and admit that. I will say it's not off-topic in a flaming/spamming way which is good.
World War Z, the book mentioned black market organ trade and the tide of emmigrants (of which some are infected) as a way the undead virus can spread.

I doubt it would progress very far if everybody just rounds up their guns and blasts away. In fact, I believe that in this here gun-toting country called the USA half of the households have a firearm...

exactly. Only extremely aggressive, quick attacks can kill the infection when its local. Not as easy as it sounds.
What if the government lied and covered it up? What if the symptoms began in a remote mountain village? How will we know?

Shoot them.
The above tactic works all the same.
Then how does it affect anyone else? And the above tactic still works.
They're dumb, ambling, moaning rotting flesh carcasses that try to bite people. Only a threat in large groups, anyway, so I doubt the virus would spread very much before it's eradicated.

But as far as I am concerned, anyone who harms an animal for a reason other than food or to protect yourself (and yes that includes insects) deserves some kind of punishment. Insects? I take it you want to whip my ass or something? Why? Do you slaughter insects because you aren't pleased with their presence? If so, yeah I'd be pretty damn pissed. It infuriates me that insects are killed simply for crawling across a sidewalk even if they present no harm to people. Nobody kills butterflies or ladybugs, however the "less cute" insects are killed for little more than entertainment. Ants care for their young just as well (if not better) than any mammal. I hate squirrels. Should I be allowed to stomp on them just because I don't like them?

Ants can be fascinating to watch. I don't like being stung by them, but even that's pretty interesting, lol.
