SOME OF THESE ARE DISTURBING
Basically, this is what happens when animals in zoos have too little space in their enclosures and the zoo keepers don't provide them with enough mental stimulation...these poor creatures are prisoners - frustrated, neglected and bored out of their effin' minds. repetitive obsessive-compulsive and ritualistic behaviors are the only ways they know how to cope with life...
Polar bear
Caracals
Jaguar
Tigers
Elephant
Zebra
Gorilla (vomits and re-eats it over and over)

I remember when I went to the greater vancouver zoo that the tiger there had walked his pond so much that he had made a worn in in path were all the grass had died. Big cat rescue has a bunch of videos of the stuff that they do inoder to stimulate the animals there.

When I went to the vancouver zoo they had an albino Savannah monitor in an outdoor enclosure, the poor thing was nearly blind from overexposure to the sun, and his skin was all red from the UV rays. That place doesn't know jack shit about taking care of animals.

Yeah, this is sad. I'm not against zoos, but animal cruelty is always disgusting.

I agree, i didn't see the monitor but when i was last there a few years ago i remember the arctic wolves pacing continuously....not to mention the Vancouver aquarium - i haven't been there in ages, but i remember a monkey in an inadequate looking display wandering back and forth non stop - behavior similar to some of the videos in the link i posted.. i hope they have set higher standards since then (from my understanding the VA has received a lot of criticism because of all the cetacean deaths there)?

Thats like a $3000 animal, even at the expense of getting kicked out I would have chewed those people a new asshole. I didnt see anything that bad while I was there.

I got into a very interesting conversation with some of the staff there, I told them they're going to kill it if they keep it outside. Go there now and they have it in an indoor enclosure with a bullshit "rescue story" about how they had saved it from terrible conditions and that's why it's nearly blind now. Real nice eh? Remember what happened with the hippo that they were keeping in a concrete pen with no sunlight? Sure they've corrected that, but they have made too many mistakes. First the pygmy hippos drowning, then the bald eagle getting killed by the lion, then the attack on the child by the falcon, and now the savannah monitor. I could take better care of these animals.

^^Such zoos should be boycotted into getting their priorities straightened out, or shut down!
