Here's a pretty awesome video showing crocodilian durability, watch how many bites from the hippos this small crocodile withstands, clearly the old tale of hippos tearing crocodiles in half is merely a myth.

Interesting...wonder what the largest croc documented to have been killed by lion or tiger? From what I can gather the largest (healthy) crocodilian killed by a big cat solo is around 12ft long, give or take. Any other events are involving crocodilians that are sick, and/or pitted against more than one cat. I don't trust silly indian hunting stories about tigers flipping over and disembowelling 2'000lb salties. Only those backed with reliable scientists, or video/picture evidence. But then again crocodiles haven't been proven to kill big cats in non-ambush scenarios either. |
