730 lb Megalania? How's that possible? Wasn't Megalania like 6-7 m long like Carcharodontosaurus said?

Yeah, I also tend to think Megalania was probably larger than that, but I just wanted to throw scenarios out there so more conversation can be added.
Not 100% sure but I think the low estimate may come from basing Megalania body proportions off longer tailed monitor species which its closely related to. If it had proportions of a komodo dragon it would weigh more. I think 3m komodo dragons get around 150 lbs or so on average so I imagine a 6m Megalania being in the 1000-1500 lbs range, a 7m probably a little bigger. I dont think a 6-7m Megalania would normally reach 2 tons because even similarly sized crocodiles dont reach that size and crocodiles do seem more powerfully built then monitor lizards. Of course Megalania could be even more powrfully built then a komodo dragon or any other monitor so its not impossible I suppose.
