I find it amazing he keeps these animals togther without that massive black throat trying to eat any of them. This is really only possible because of how extremely laid back big boy (the black thoat) is. Mind you big boy tends to try and mate with the savannah monitor.

wouldn't think iguanas and monitors would make good flat mates.

wouldn't think iguanas and monitors would make good flat mates. As long as they are similar in size to the monitor it wouldnt try to eat them but thats what makes this interesting, that black throat is way bigger than the iguana.

One of the things I have always wanted to do is create something of a "just add water" little (little is comparative here this isnt sonething that would fit in a 100 gallon tank or anything remotely that small) ecosystem were all I need to do is make sure there is enough water and the rest takes care of it's self. Some choice plants, insects, a few species of lizard maybe a snake species and maybe a frog species or two. Just the idea of it gets me exicted, creating my own food web, seeing how animals that would never naturally live togther interact and adapt to the new challanges they present, seeing if the animals settle into the niches I planned for them and seeing if any begin to choose a life style different from there natural counterparts.

That would be pretty cool. Scaled down ecosystem. I have two aquariums that are very low maintenance. Almost entirely self suffi ient.

Oh the only relevance is a moderately self contained ecosystem. They are fishtanks not vivariums. One contains ci cichlids rocket gars snails a pleco and some plants the other is similar but with tetras instead of cichlids and crayfish.
