Some of you are heavily overrating the ape here. A well-placed bite from the lioness on the gorilla's neck would be fatal, not to mention how leopards have been known to single-handedly kill silverbacks

i would favor a silverback gorilla over a lioness. Against a male lion? I'm not certain.
That said, I don't dispute a lioness can kill a silverback.

You think a male lion and a gorilla is a close match-up? Smh

I didn't state that. I said I wasn't sure.

Now whether or not a gorilla would do a throat bite is up for debate. Then there's this. bigcatnews.blogspot.com/2007/11/man-kills-lion-hyenas-kill-man.htmlAgain, I'm not disputing the lioness can win. I'm just hesitating to say the big cat will win easily..

Gorilla? Throat bite!? For one, gorillas do not even have the expertise in killing by biting, and second, gorillas do not have sharp enough teeth to actually make a bite fatal. Lions, on the other hand, always kill prey that way

I was half-joking. I said I don't know if a gorilla would try and attempt a throat bite.
"Gorillas do not have sharp enough teeth to make a bite fatal." Where did you hear that?

I didn't hear it anywhere... I have seen gorilla skulls before: Compare that to a lion's skull: Lions are specialized at killing with throat bites, gorillas are not.

Most of the time, I see the gorilla's chest pounding and hooting scaring off a lioness before the fight begins
Honestly, truly. Based on all the video evidence I have to say this.

the gorilla would win unless the lion headbutted it.

I was joking.
But really, I think a large silverback with a weight advantage stands a good chance against a lioness. I'll explain more later.

I know that.
And I know you have that opinion. As for this fight, I give it to the lioness 7-8/10. But the gorilla has some chances of scaring it off as well
