I think it's impossible to prove how intelligent an orca is, and it's possible, however unlikely, that their intelligence approaches or exceeds that of humans. Humans have a more efficient means of applying intelligence. For example orcas have no hands and thus can't create tools.
Intelligence isn't measurable, unfortunately.

I remember I had an argument on Carnivora taking the opposite viewpoint. I still think it's really just wishful thinking to say orcas might be as smart as humans.

another overrated animal is the bear. The theory that "bears have been known to kill elk or moose with a single paw swipe." That's false. Bears don't attack ungulates by paw swiping. They grab and wrestle the head. Also some people think bears are super durable which isn't always true. There was an instance where a man killed a bear by throwing a log at it. And another where a man beat a grizzly to death with a stick.
I don't think they're nearly as overrated as big cats but still.

Bears are extremely durable. They're known for taking multiple shots and still charging hunters. Show me your account of a bear being killed by a man with a stick.

It's posted in the Black Bear vs Gorilla thread. I really don't know how you could've missed it. You even responded to that post.

Among felids,, pantherines (all of them save for the snow leopard) i would be the ones that get the most overrated, and after which i would say the caracal - medium-small sized cat that is generally quite unimpressive in the way of physical substance...gracile build, long thin legs, and fairly puny head....yet people get all pimped over how tough and fierce they supposedly are for their size (like they do over the wolverine and honeybadger) because of stuff like this ::: about all i see is bluffing from the caracal, and opponents that weren't too serious/interested in killing it... salukis (a sighthound that isn't too much larger) are known to kill caracals one on one.

I agree Leopjag. Big Cats ares are even more overrated than Tyrannosaurus Rex. You underrate T. rex. So does Jumbo. Theropods are underrated on this forum in general, but mostly by you. Examples; T. rex vs Elephant Tyrannosaurus vs Megatherium Cape Buffalo vs Ceratosaurus Deinonychus vs Southern Cassowary All theropod mismatches you've made in the past 4 or 5 pages.

Well it's my opinion that T-Rex is overrated and I admit that the the Tyrannosaurus Rex vs Megatherium and Deinonychus vs Southern Cassowary were not fair matches. However I can understand why you think T-Rex vs Elephant is a mismatch since you think Allosaurus is a more fair fight. However I don't see how Cape Buffalo vs Ceratosaurus is a mismatch? Cape Buffalo's are highly aggressive and are one of the top 5 black deaths in Africa. By the way I don't mean to underrate Theropods. I just think they are good in lot of matches that are worth debateable. That is all. I also don't think Theropods are overrated. The only ones I think is overrated is T-Rex. However I think Theropods such as Spinosaurs is underrated.

I think he means some people overrate Spinosaurus and some underrate it(as I said on the first page). Cape buffalo are preyed on by lions. This is to scale; [img src=" img502.imageshack.us/img502/3398/ceratosaurusskull.jpg" width=209 height=129 src="http://www.freeclipartnow.com/d/6536-1/lion-skull.jpg"]

when lions do go after cape buffalo, it's because zebra and wildebeest aren't available thus forcing them to take bigger risks. Even then it's almost always in gangs against old, sick, and weak buffalo. Even so, the buffalo often puts up a stubborn resistance. A lone lion stands NO CHANCE against a bull cape buffalo in prime condition. Hell even a wildebeest can scare a lone lioness off.
Sometimes buffalos actively seek out and strike lion prides. Then weed out the cubs as preventative punishment. Sometimes they'll just kill lions for fun. No reason.
Big bull bovines are up there with rhino, hippo, and elephants as some of the toughest big game to kill.
