I love how this thread's debate doesnt stem from if the tiger looses but how badly it looses.

Well there is only so much a solo predator can do when it's up against the 4th most powerful land animal after hippos, rhinos, and elephants.

I don't think a gaur is less aggressive or slower than a cape buffalo. And no, a gaur is definitely much, MUCH harder to kill. For one thing, their builds are much more muscular than those of buffalo and their horns are better suited to goring an opponent. The gaur has a much more bulky and rigid build. Cape buffalo can be very maneuverable especially when dealing with multiple lions and hyenas. A gaur would have a much harder time catching a tiger who uses ambush tactics

I've seen gaur fight and they are just as mobile as the buffalo. Besides that the Gaur's horns are better positioned to stab and opponent.
Only animals outright dominant over the gaur are the elephants, hippo, and rhino (with the possible exception of the sumatran rhino).

The cape doesnt stab by just charging. If you watch them fight you will see that they swirl their heads and "hook" opponents. Lions have been pierced threw those methods.

I actually believe these larger bovines like gaur would be easier for a tiger to kill in ambush then smaller, more agile and aggressive ones like the cape buffalo. But anyways, since this is a face off, any tiger stupid enough to fight a bull or even cow gaur is so dead. Gaur 9/10. If the fight took place in an enclosed space, then the tiger is dead for sure.

Ambush attack - tiger wins ( most of the time ). Face-to-face confrontation - gaur wins ( most of the time ).
