I worked at a butcher shop as a teen, I can assure you that the beef and pork you generally consume are killed quite humanely and quickly from a a very close range. Death is instant, though quality of life before hand may not have been too peachy. When it comes to hunting though, how much the animal suffers depends on the hunter, there is a reason hunters learn to follow blood trails an and carry side arms to finish the job. \ EXACTLY. The cougar killed in this incident likely lived much healthier and naturally than some cow that lived in a pen reeking of mud and feces half its life and gets slaughtered wretchedly.
