An eagle that can weigh up to 15 kg vs an absolute monster packed with venom and sharp teeth and armor around it that can weigh up to 166 kg, really? Face to face this isn't even a fight. The eagle would just turn into chicken wings. The Komodo Dragon could just roll over it, face to face there is nothing the eagle can do. I'm stating this as an example because so many people are using the eagle ambush excuse. Bird of prey vs land animal match-ups are fucking retarded because there is 2 ways they can win, and if the eagle striked down on it's opponent, it's opponent is dead (unless the land animal had a huge size advantage). Face to face this is a huge mismatch in favor of the lizard. Komodo Dragon 90-95/10-5 of the time.

Eagle's ability to overpower large prey is a little over-exaggerated. I seriously doubt the eagle has the strength to overpower a lizard that can kill it with a single bite. Only an absolutely perfect strike on the lizard's head could secure the win for the bird.

I agree with thylacoleo. I think there was some matter on the real average size of Komodo dragons elsewhere, but either way, the eagle is screwed most of the time IMO.

Haast eagle because it can carry the Komodo dragon with its claws
