Has anyone ever owned a Pac-man frog? They had one at the local pet store yesterday. He seemed pretty cool, I have an afinity for animals that swallow large prey whole. I have never had exotic frogs. I used to keep firebelly newts and even a spotted salamander when I was younger but I don't anymore. Any good or bad things you could tell me would be welcome. Pac-man frogs are amazing when they're little, but once they get big you will have given up trying to hold them because they will try to eat your fingers whenever they can. But if you're looking for a great display animal they do quite well, they aren't finicky, and are quite hardy.

Wonderful! I hope you enjoy your new friend, rainbow boas are very nice animals, haven't owned one myself, but my ex girlfriend had a huge female, and that was a cool snake. You'll soon find that snakes are like popcorn, you can't have just one!

We actually went there to pick up a pac-man frog(out of stock ) We saw this little rainbow boa and fell in love, it seemed so busy and intelligent. It didn't even wait till we got home to pull its first Houdini. I was researching on my phone about the humidity requirements and next thing I know I am holding an empty box. The little guy found the gap between my butt and the car seat a far more appealing hide. Anyone know anything sexing boas? I know how to pop a python but I don't want to try something like that until I am sure.

You can pop a boa the same way you can a python, but (at least in red tails) the anal spurs are an easy way to tell, the males always have big ones. That and of course the females get bigger. Poping or probing is the only fool-proof way to get them sexed.

They are two distinct and seperate species, apodora papuana and liasis olivaceus.
