The American Pit Bull Terrier is a medium-sized dog, solidly built, with a short coat and smooth, well-defined muscle structure. The dog's appearance is powerful and athletic without being bulky or muscle bound. The length of the front leg is approximately half of the dog's height at the highest part of the back. The dog's head is in proportion to the rest of its body with a triangular shape, a broad, flat skull and a wide, deep muzzle. The eyes are set well apart, sit low on the skull, and are round to almond shaped. The ears are small to medium in length and may be natural or cropped. The nose may be any color. The neck is muscular and moderate in length. Dogs' forequarters have long, wide shoulder blades, are muscular, and well laid back. The hindquarters are strong and muscular, moderately broad and in balance with the forequarters. Females have slightly longer bodies than males, while males have slightly bigger limbs then females. The tail is thick and tapers to a point. The coat is glossy, smooth, short, and slightly coarse and can be any color. The American Pit Bull Terrier's weight is roughly between 35 and 65 pounds. vs The sun bear is 120–150 cm (47–60 in) long, making it the smallest member in the bear family (Ursidae). Males tend to be 10–45% larger than females; the former normally weigh between 30 and 70 kg (66–154 lb), and the latter between 20 and 40 kg (44–88 lb). The shoulder height is about 60–72 cm (24–28 in). The sun bear possesses sickle-shaped claws that are relatively light in weight. It has large paws with naked soles, probably to assist in climbing. Its inward-turned feet make the bear's walk pigeon toed, but it is an excellent climber. It has small, round ears and a stout snout. The tail is 1.2–2.8 inches (3–7 cm) long. Despite its small size, the sun bear possesses a very long, slender tongue, ranging from 8 to 10 inches (20–25 cm) in length. The bear uses it to extract honey from beehives. Unlike other bears, the sun bear's fur is short and sleek. This adaptation is probably due to the lowland climates it inhabits. Dark black or brown-black fur covers its body, except on the chest, where there is a pale orange-yellow marking in the shape of a horseshoe. Similar colored fur can be found around the muzzle and the eyes. These distinctive markings give the sun bear its name.

I think the sun bear would win.

In my own opinion I think that it depends on where the pitbull decides to latch itself onto, if it were to grab the bear by the muzzle it would probably be able to prevent the sun bears enormous canines to be put use and would win the battle seriously injured.

The only problem with that is the bear has a fair chance of freeing himself by using his claws.

If I remember correctly their are reports of these dogs continuing their attacks on people despite being bashed over the head with bats, so I doubt a painfully raking would be able to put one off.

I i can post an account of one stopping its attack when being attacked by another dog. Pitbull performing unrelenting assaults are probably just the exception to the rule, however being attacked by another is different than being attacked by the individual you are fighting. The bear can use its for arms to control the pibull better than the pitbull can control the bear. I think the pitbull will only win under special circumstances.

I'm going to go with the bear here because it has really big/sharp claws. Plus it has a size advantage.

I'd go with the bear but it won't be easy.

The Pit-bull stands no chance here, it's outgunned. The Sun Bear has grappling ability, bigger canines, MUCH bigger claws and better durability. The Pitbull would be disemboweled and will have it's nose ripped off.
