People can take knives and bullets too actually. In the Miami shootout one crook took a 9mm hollowpoint to the heart, along with quite some dump of other lead. That particular bullet should have killed him in 2 minutes, but 10 minutes later he was still shooting. However, most people nevertheless fall quickly under animal attacks - although the durability of the human body is amazing (that is, those people don't die, or at least not quickly), our combat stamina against wild animals much larger than us doesn't often last long. BTW this does not mean handguns are ineffective on humans. They most certainly are. Allexperts isn't exactly known for its reliability. You see, one of these guys said a sand tiger shark would beat a great hammerhead due to better weaponry. Brainless if you ask me.

And the only thing gorillas have ever killed are leopards less than half their size.

Silverback Gorillas kill each other which are bigger than leopards. A healthy silverback gorilla in prime condition has no natural predators. If a lioness has a lot of trouble with a male leopard 1on1, she has little chance vs a silverback gorilla. An average leopard would lose to a lioness. A huge 85-90 kilogram male leopard might just be too risky for her. Also Lions stand on 3 legs to hit with the 4th paw. Gorillas stand upright. Get down in a 3 legged position and swing your arm. Then stand upright and swing. You decide which is stronger. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8zhV_5PmsE&feature=related injured wildebeest holds off 2 lioness. I don't see why an imposing, 485 LB alpha gorilla can't at least repel a lion. If I wanted to I could just dump my full arsenal of Anti-Lion videos into this thread. But that'd take forever.

Because the only predators in their habitat, are leopards less than half the gorilla's size.
Most leopards would get slaughtered by a lioness, easily.
The anatomy of humans, gorillas, and lions anatomy are severely different, so your point makes no sense.
And there are plenty of videos of lionesses taking down zebras and wildebeest on there own.
Because of your repeated attempts of making big cats look bad, I can't help but feel that you suffer from confirmation bias

Not to be rude to anybody but can someone please post the source that states primates have thin, vulnerable skin?
1. Also I'd like to state the mountain gorilla unlike its lowland cousin has long, thick hair for living at high altitudes. Bornean Orangutans, particularly have extremely long and shaggy hair. It wouldn't make sense for these two to be as vulnerable to clawing as a human is.
2. And also, apes (assuming they do have thin skin) are only vulnerable to FRONT LEG clawing. A stable plantigrade ape can avoid the hind leg kicking simply by moving away laterally while grappling with the front limbs. The lioness fight I posted proves this perfectly.
3. If I can avoid or block an attack with ease than I am not really vulnerable to it am I? If I armed myself with a knife and took on Jacky Chan, he can easily hit the weapon away and dispatch me in seconds. Therefore he is NOT vulnerable to being knifed. You cannot be vulnerable to something you can evade with ease.

I think the biggest problem with gorilla fights is that we don't have enough video of gorillas fighting anything.

All Cited From here: www.therainforests.info/animals/mountain-gorilla.htm The Mountain Gorilla has longer and darker hair than other gorilla species, allowing it to live in hot or cold weather and travel into areas where temperatures drop below 32 degrees Fahrenheit(0 degrees Celsius).Adult males have more pronounced bony crests on the top and back of their skulls, giving their heads a more conical shape. These crests anchor the powerful masseter muscles, which attach to the lower jaw, or mandible.Upright, males reach 1.5–1.8 m (5–6 ft) in height, with an arm span of 2.25 m (7 ft 6 in) and weigh 204–227 kg (350–500 lb). The tallest silverback recorded was a 1.94 m (6.4 ft) individual shot in Alimbongo, northern Kivu in May 1938 and the heaviest was a 1.83 m (6 ft) silverback shot in Ambam, Cameroon which weighed about 266 kg (585 lb).Severe aggression is rare in stable groups, but when two Mountain Gorilla groups meet, the two silverbacks can sometimes engage in a fight to the death, using their canines to cause deep, gaping injuries. The abduction of infants generally involves the loss of at least one adult, as members of a group will fight to the death to protect their young.Experienced silverbacks are capable of removing poachers' snares from the hands or feet of their group members.

Any animal can potentially outsmart people. Octopi may do so quite commonly, and while highly intelligent, are not on par with humans.
