Gator wins. It has a stronger bite, has armor and is much more aggressive. Black Bears are normally docile and usually avoid Interspecific conflict with other animals.

if the bear prolongs the fight it stands a good chance of winning though I may add.
Anyone know of accounts of the two interacting.

^I do agree that if the bear wanted to fight it will win. And a 200 kg or heavier black bear could win as well.

Bear 1. intelligence 2. grappling ability 3. stamina
gator 1. armor 2. bite 3. tail 4. death roll

On a wildlife documentary during the 1970s; I remember this lady studying life in the Everglades in Florida. She told of such an event that she had witnessed. She had watched a large black bear cross a rather large body of water. About halfway across, a big gator came up from beneath and grabbed the bear; pulling him under. She said that the water was calm for a short time, then the bear popped up to the surface like a cork and continued swimming toward the opposite side of the "pond" where he was going. Then, after several minutes the alligator crawled up onto the same bank. His back was lacerated ( obviously ) from the bear's claws. The bear appeared to be uninjured.
