I heard on a documentary that hyenas(spotted) are on par with prime apes when it comes to intelligence.

I heard on a documentary that hyenas(spotted) are on par with prime apes when it comes to intelligence. I think you mean "primates", not "prime apes". There is no way hyenas are as smart as apes. I think bears among the smartest. Black beards are said to have better tracking abilities than humans and this passage seems to suggest Kodiak bears are quite intelligent themselves. "There have been no scientific studies evaluating the sensory perception or intelligence of Kodiak bears. Subjective observations and comparisons to other bears suggest that Kodiak bears have eyesight that is comparable to humans (they are not “near sighted”), have hearing that is comparable to an average dog, and have a sense of smell that is up to four times more acute than the average dog. Their level of intelligence seems to be somewhere between that of an average canine and a primate. Due to their level of intelligence, individual bears have personalities and unique ways of dealing with situations."[1] Source:[1] Wood, Jason (2006). Kodiak kings. I really cant remember which one it was but it was probably the former as i too find them being as smart as apes a little far fetched. however it is possible.

Do Orca whales count? Or are we just talking about land animals?

Do Orca whales count? Or are we just talking about land animals? We are talking about carnivorans, anything in the order Carnivora. This includes bears, cats, dogs, seals, raccoons, weasels, etc. Orcas are not carnivorans.

I voted canids but I think this is very close and probably vary from animal to animal. The smartest wolf maybe smarter than the average bear but not smarter than the smartest bear. The Raccoon may not be smarter than all sealions but he is certainly smarter than "Sharkbait the Retarded Piniped"

Raccoons are as clever as simians, to the point of opening locks. They will put the plug in the drain before filling the sink to wash their food. They are very very smart.

Is there proof of the smartest of canids being more intelligent than any of the ursines?

Is there proof of the smartest of canids being more intelligent than any of the ursines? I don't know. I have just seen how Wolves hunt, and how they stratagize to bring their prey down. I don't know too much on bears however.
