Python reticulatus, also known as the (Asiatic) reticulated python[3] is a species of python found in Southeast Asia. Adults can grow to over 8.7 m (28 feet) in length[4] but normally grow to an average of 3-6 meters (10–20 feet). They are the world's longest snakes and longest reptile, but are not the most heavily built. Like all pythons, they are nonvenomous constrictors and normally not considered dangerous to humans. Although large specimens are powerful enough to kill an adult human, attacks are only occasionally reported. vs They are also capable of running at speeds of 56–64 km (34–38 miles) per hour, and can continue running for more than 20 minutes, though not necessarily at that speed. Gray wolves are the largest extant members of the Canidae, excepting certain large breeds of domestic dog.[24] Gray wolf weight and size can vary greatly worldwide, tending to increase proportionally with latitude as predicted by Bergmann's Rule.[45] Adult wolves are 105–160 cm (41–63 in) in length and 80–85 cm (32–34 in) in shoulder height.[46] The tail is ⅔ the length of the head and body,[47] measuring 29–50 cm (11–20 in) in length. The ears are 90–110 millimeters (3.5–4.3 in) in height, and the hind feet are 220–250 mm.[46] Wolf weight varies geographically; on average, European wolves may weigh 38.5 kilograms (85 lb), North American wolves 36 kilograms (79 lb), Indian and Arabian wolves 25 kilograms (55 lb)[48] and North African wolves 13 kilograms (29 lb).[49] Females in any given wolf population typically weigh 5–10 lbs less than males.[50] Wolves weighing over 54 kg (120 lbs) are uncommon, though exceptionally large individuals have been recorded in Alaska, Canada,[50] and the former Soviet Union.[46][51] The heaviest recorded gray wolf in North America was killed on 70 Mile River in east-central Alaska on July 12, 1939 and weighed 79.4 kilograms (175 lb),[50] while the heaviest recorded wolf in Eurasia was killed after World War II in the Kobelyakski Area of the Poltavskij Region, Ukrainian SSR, and weighed 86 kilograms (190 lb)

I think the Wolf would win here. By the way. Commie, use good information please. There is nothing on the weight of the wolf here. We don't need to know how much it's liver weighs. Lol.

Python wins. It's longer and weighs alot more. A more fair fight would be a Burmese Python.

A large retic 16' or more could kill most of the wolves subspecies from southern regions. Big northern wolves may be to large to eat so the python would go from prey mode to defense mode. It would coil its self up as tight as it can with its head in the middle to lash out at ever approachable angle. It would be a time consuming task to exhaust a python in this position, perhaps two wolves could see it done but not a single one.

Burm is still to much. A large burm weighs almost as much as a large retic being a heavier built python.

African rock pythons are of similar dimensons to burms.

Reticulated python. It can probably kill a leopard, why not a wolf?

The python can take this easily, granted it's in hunting mode, and not defence mode.

For once I have to agree with the snake supporters. The wolf lacks the body plan to escape the snake's coils. Though if he lands a good bite he can discourage a snake from attacking. Overall I favor the snake

The python can take this easily, granted it's in hunting mode, and not defence mode. Predator instinct doesn't mean the snake enters some kind of anti-mercy mode. Often times when the opponent fights back, predators second guess themselves and flee. That being said, this python is much too strong for a wolf and will win.

You have alot to learn about reptilian behavior. A devenise reptile is trying to avoid confrontation and only acts defensively, however once in a predatory state of mind, The animal is far more dangerous and once the reptile feels its prey is caught their determination and willingness to be damaged during the attack is beyond most other predators.

The python is just too strong, too big and just too powerful for the wolf. This is just a mismatch.

A big burmese python vs a wolf - the burmese python is heavily built and its muscles are made for killing whereas the wolf's muscles are for running and chasing. The python wins hands down.
