Reticulated PythonThe average length of an adult Reticulated Python can range from 15 - 25 feet making it the longest snake and reptile in the world. It is possible for Reticulated Pythons to grow over 30 feet in length. The adult weight can be over 300 pounds. Adults can grow to over 8.7 m (28 feet) in length but normally grow to an average of 3-6 m (10–20 feet). They are the world's longest snakes and longest reptile, but are not the most heavily built. Like all pythons, they are nonvenomous constrictors and normally not considered dangerous to humans. Although large specimens are powerful enough to kill an adult human, attacks are only occasionally reported. Green AnacondaThe Green Anaconda is one of the world's longest snakes, reaching more than 6.6 m (22 ft) long. Reports of anacondas 35–40 feet or even longer also exist, but such claims need to be regarded with caution as no specimens of such lengths have ever been deposited in a museum and hard evidence is lacking. Although the reticulated python is longer, the anaconda is the heaviest snake. The longest (and heaviest) scientifically recorded specimen was a female measuring 521 cm (17 ft 1 in) long and weighing 97.5 kilograms (215 lb). Here it is!

I honestly think this is a mismatch, even at parity.

Oh good, conflict! There is much more info and research out there on retics than condas. Anacondas live in a flooded marshy no-mans-land where extreme specimens would be near impossible to economically capture, transport, weigh and measure safely. I have heard argument for temperment on both sides of this debate.

there are no reliable studies on the constriction power of these to giants but judging by life style the retic gets my vote for stronger. also there teeth look more formidable.

Anacondas are able to hold their breathe under water for twenty minutes a python probably can't, so I am pretty sure the anaconda would come up on top most of the time.

Sorry commie but there is a huge difference between holding your breath and having it squeezed from your lungs. Nile monitors can hold there breath for almost an hour and they cant last nearly as long as that when being consticted.

Ultimategrid says that reticulated pythons are one of the smarter snakes. Wonder if that would make any difference.

Wonder if that would make any difference. it certaintly would! retics are pretty crafty, it actually makes them gard to keep as the concider there incloser as a puzzle that they will ultimately solve. is ultimategrid a member here yet? if not he should be. he is always o my team lol.

Aye but it still helps.
Don't see how a slightly higher I.Q. is going to help in this fight.

intelligence is always relavent. like being smart enough not go for a swim where there lurks a waiting anaconda. they really investigate there surrounding and explore, its important to know your battle ground.
